Designed for the desert. Built for the future.
Custom residential and commercial landscape design and consulting, focused on the lasting health of the property.
Three disciplines, one design.
Landscape design
Complete plans for custom homes and commercial sites, specified for licensed contractors to build.
- Site and planting plans
- Grading and drainage
- Hardscape, lighting and outdoor living
- Plans and specifications for bid
Property consulting and assessments
An expert read of the entire outdoor property, with clear direction on what it needs and who should do it.
- Site and irrigation assessments
- Plant health and longevity reviews
- Maintenance direction
- Plan and specification review
Smart weather irrigation
Watering designed plant by plant and set to the day's weather, with monitoring that flags a leak before it becomes a loss.
- Smart controller design and programming
- Zone and emitter specification
- Flow and leak monitoring
- Seasonal water budgets
The Congruent Method
Every project follows the same five steps, from the first site visit to the years after handover.
Assess
The site as it is: sun, soil, slope, water, views and how it will be used.
Align
Scope, budget and priorities agreed before design begins.
Design
One complete plan: planting, hardscape, grading, lighting and irrigation.
Execute
Built by licensed contractors, with Congruent confirming the work matches the plan.
Steward
After handover, we assess the landscape and direct the care it needs.
How much water does it need?
The method behind every Congruent irrigation design, open for anyone to use. Choose a plant and a day to see exactly what it needs.
A planning estimate, not a prescription. How far water spreads under an emitter varies from yard to yard, so Congruent confirms every schedule with a soil probe on site. For established plants on pressure-compensating drip, 90% efficient. Each 1 gallon-per-hour emitter wets a circle of soil about 1.5 feet across in sand and 3 feet across in sandy loam and loam (USDA NRCS National Engineering Handbook 623, Ch. 7, Table 7-14), and only wetted soil stores water for the plant. Soil water-holding: Lake Havasu soil survey values (USDA NRCS SSURGO, Mohave County AZ627: about 0.05 in/in in wash sands, 0.11 in/in in the common gravelly loams) and a typical loam (about 0.15 in/in; USDA texture tables). Water is applied when half of that stored water is used. Weather: typical daily reference ET for the Lower Colorado River desert (CIMIS Zone 18); live readings, when available, come from the AZMET Fort Mohave station. Plant water factors: ANSI/ASABE S623.1, with each plant classed by its WUCOLS V Low Desert rating where one exists (WUCOLS V, California Center for Urban Horticulture, University of California, Davis, 2025). AZMET data are used as published by the University of Arizona; AZMET does not endorse this calculator. New plantings need more frequent water until established.
One plant is an estimate. A property deserves a plan.
The Property Water Plan applies the same published science to every zone and every plant on your property, then measures what your system actually delivers. Each schedule is backed by a field test, not a guess.
- On-site assessmentSoil probed in every zone; plants, exposure and emitters recorded.
- Field uniformity test32 emitter readings at 16 plants per zone, the USDA NRCS method, graded on its scale.
- Month-by-month scheduleEvery zone run time and interval, from ANSI/ASABE S623.1, Arizona Extension and measured soil.
- Corrections that save waterEmitter, layout and pressure fixes to the NRCS design standard, in priority order.
Thirty years building to a standard.
Mike Brenneman founded Congruent Concepts after three decades in golf course and luxury landscape construction.
That work covered underground irrigation, grading and drainage, desert planting, and the budgets and crews that carry a project from plan to finish. Congruent brings that discipline to every property it touches.
